ARMY SPORTS CHAMPIONSHIP BEGINS IN ABUJA


The Nigerian Army headquarters Garrison andGuards Brigade Sports Championship is set to kick off today at the Aguiyi Ironsi Cantonment in Abuja. According to a statement from the Army Headquarters, the championship which will last for three days is aimed at promoting team spirit as well as physical and mental fitness among troops.

Some of the events that will be competed for include Football, athletics, badminton, basketball, handball, boxing and tennis with participants drawn from the army headquarters units, departments as well as guards’ brigade.

Among dignitaries expected to grace today’s opening ceremony include, the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Tukur Yusuf Buratai, Garrison Major General John Seyina Malu and other principal staff officers.
