NAF said series of air interdictions to take out a number terrorists in
the Sambisa Forest will be conducted in a few days. In a bid to further degrade the capabilities of the Boko
Haram terrorists,
the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has commenced another round airstrikes codenamed
'Operation Forest Storm’ in the North East. According to a statement posted on
NAF Facebook page, the operation, which commenced on October 2, 2016, would
last for a few days.
It said series of air interdictions to take out
a number of carefully selected targets in the Sambisa Forest will be conducted within this period. The
statement also noted that the Air Component of 'Operation Delta Safe' has
continued to rid the creeks in the Niger Delta of illegal oil refineries and
barges used for carrying stolen petroleum products.
NAF said it destroyed illegal refineries and
barges along the east of Isaa town, Borikiri, old Bakana as well as Bakana and
Bille Communities, using the EC-135 helicopters. The airforce expressed its
unwavering commitment to stamping out what it described as "acts of
economic sabotage" and illicit activities in the region.
