The Yola South main market was razed by an early morning fire on Monday, January 4.
Vanguard reports that the fire began around 3am and affected stalls of market owners.
It was reported that fire service officials especially those from the American University of Nigeria managed the fire.
The market fire follows a spate of fire attacks on markets across the country especially in December, 2015.
A similar fire occurred at the popular Sabon Gari market, destroying completely goods worth millions.
Thick smoke was seen billowing although the extent of the damage caused by the fire has not been ascertained.

In a related development, the popular Westminster market in Lagos was gutted by fire. Fire men deployed to the scene of the incident were able to manage the fire.
