Confirming the success of the operation, Samuel Aruwan, the spokesman of Governor Nasir El-Rufai, said the joint patrol team comprising of Operation Yaki Patrol and Saminaka divisional police patrol stormed the village following a tip-off that some rustlers had arrived at the Jama’ariyya village.
“The cattle rustlers engaged the team in a gun fight and as a result, two of the rustlers were killed while others rustlers escaped into the bush with gun wounds abandoning the cows,” Mr. Aruwan said.
One locally made SMG rifle, three pairs of army uniform and twelve 9mm live ammunition were recovered from the rustlers, he said.
“The cows and the items recovered were handed over to the Saminaka divisional headquarters for further investigation to ascertain the true owners of the cows for claims while effort is being intensified to track down the fleeing rustlers,” Mr. Aruwan said
