Ahead of the final match between Nigeria’s Dream Team VI and their Algerian counterparts at the ongoing U-23 Africa Cup of Nations in Senegal, former Super Eagles international, Mutiu Adepoju has expressed confidence that Nigeria will do well in Saturday’s final. In an exclusive interview with Naij.com Sports, the ‘Headmaster’ disclosed that he feels excited Nigeria will be represented at the men’s football event in Brazil. “It feels good that they qualified for the Olympics. I believe we will do well against Algeria if we make the defence solid, like we did against Senegal. “If we also improve on out midfield and attack, I am sure we will come out victorious,”he raved.
Asked if Siasia needs to invite new players to fortify his team ahead of the 2016 Olympics in Rio, the former Real Madrid mid-fielder posited that it would be at the discretion of the coach. “It depends on the coach and the way they are. If the technical crew feels the players they have right now can deliver, they can go ahead. And if otherwise, they can make amends,” he said. Nigeria face Algeria at the final of the U-23 Africa Cup of Nations on Saturday December 12. Both teams had met in the preliminary stage, a game which ended 0 – 0.
