Political stakeholders from the southern part of Benue state otherwise called the idoma nation have asked President Muhamadu Buhari to terminate the appointment of the chief of intelligence Air vice Marshall (AVM) Monday Morgan for using his office to destabilize the constituency. AVM Monday Morgan, an idoma man was accused of causing political disharmony in the land when he started dropping names that president Buhari mandated him to compel his idoma people to join the All Progressive Congress (APC) if he must retrain his job.
According to a statement issued by the group and made available to Naij.com, Morgan was allegedly home during the Christmas break asking political leaders in Idoma land especially the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)Faithful to join the APC in other to save his job. He was reported to have told his people that president Buhari will not have anything to do with him if he fails to compel his Idoma people to enlist into the APC.
But sensing the foul play, the people including chiefs Sule Omaji Audu and Omale Jonah Omale asked AVM Morgan to resign from his position if it has degenerated to the level of using a military uniform to harass his people.
“I think it is time Buhari sacks AVM Morgan, except Buhari actually sent him. if he (Morgan)wants to play partisan politics, he should resign instead of coming through the back door to harass us with his position or was actually sent by Buhari,” the chieftain said. AVM Morgan was also accused of picking a fight with his kinsman, the former president of the senate, Sen. David Mark for allegedly refusing to make him Chief of Air staff while he was in office.
Senator Mark was said to have told Morgan that there exist a structure and hierarchy in the Air force which Morgan should comply with since he was not the most senior or qualified officer, then. A window of opportunity came for Morgan to hit Mark when the appeal tribunal sitting in Makurdi, Benue state nullified the senatorial election of Mark and ordered for a re- run.
Morgan who came home for the yuletide used the period to renew the fight against Mark when he told his people that president Buhari has asked him to compel them to go for APC in the forthcoming re- run. Already, the Idoma people have resolved across party lines to vote for senator Mark in the forth coming re- run election saying “it is the Idoma people alone and not external forces that would determine who will represent them at the National Assembly. Our destiny is in our hands.”
