Governor Adams Oshiomhole of Edo state has ordered Jerry Obazele, the state’s Head of Service and Dan Aigbavboa, the permanent secretary, Information and Communication Technology Agency to proceed on retirement. He also ordered the compulsory suspension of Toju Onaiwu, the director (Software), Edo state Information and Communication Technology Agency. This was contained in a press statement issued on Tuesday, December 9, in Benin and signed by Peter Okhiria, the chief press secretary to Governor Oshiomhole. The statement also directed that “all members of the Edo State Pensions Board to report to the State Civil Service Commission for proper investigation and disciplinary action in accordance with the Civil Service Rules.
“Members of the Pensions Board are advised to steer clear of their offices until investigations are concluded,” the statement read. Governor Adams Oshiomhole announced the appointment of Gladys Idahor as the new Head of Service, Edo state.
The massive shake up in the state civil service comes barely two months after four members of Edo State Executive Council were sacked by Governor Oshiomhole. The Commissioners who were sack are Lucky James, commissioner for local government and chieftaincy affairs, Maigida Blessing, commissioner for women affairs, Patrick Aguinede, commissioner for Basic Education and Chris Ebare, commissioner for Energy and Water Resources.
